what we are
A Community for Connection and Support
Indigiqueer Firekeepers is a group that meets every two weeks to provide support, resources, and programming for Indigenous students who identify as 2-spirit, or LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender non-conforming, along with many other identities), and for those questioning their sexual or gender identities.
This group creates a non-judgmental, supportive space for gathering, connection, and self-exploration, allowing participants to explore their identities and what they mean to them.

Coming Together and Creating Community
Indigiqueer Firekeepers provides a space that fosters a sense of belonging, resilience, cultural pride, and community, where connections are made, and resources, food, and experiences are shared to support mutual empowerment.
Throughout the academic year, a range of events encourages connection, creativity, and cultural expression. Activities include:
- Traditional Crafting Nights
- Knowledge Sharing
- Workshops
- Talking Circles/Peer Support
- Resource Sharing
- Research or Study Nights
- Hangouts, movie nights and more!
Participation is encouraged for anyone who identifies as Indigiqueer, Two-Spirit, or is exploring their gender or sexual identity.
